Presidency Event: Exploring Loss and Damage

Even with a rapid scale-up of adaptation action, climate change will still have an impact. So the risk of losses and damages from climate change is growing. This session will bring together experts to deepen our understanding of loss and damage as well as debate how we can take practical actions to avert, minimise and address loss and damage.

Futures Lab: Governance - Choose your own Adventure

Governance takes many forms and happens in many spaces. From boardrooms to city council meetings to international bodies. In this session, we will explore the interconnectivity of decisions in these three different spaces and track the impacts these decisions have on one another in a live dramatisation of a ‘choose your own adventure story. Over the 90 minutes we will showcase a range of decision-making models that can be used in these spaces, invite experts to reflect on the decisions, and share the possible ‘sliding door’ moments that exist when we follow one path rather than another. Our vision for a series of new governance modes is based on a need tobuild awareness of the wider consequences of decisions on a range of stakeholders over a range of time horizonsembed inclusivity in the process of making decisions and, puts life at the centre of the process.Governance: Choose your own Adventure14:30 - 14:40Opening remarks to set the scene and introduce the formatSpeakersChris Turner, B Lab UKMary RobinsonGonzalo MuñozIntroduce Malka Older14:40 - 15:00Scene 1: City Hall DecisionSpeakersOlamide Udoma-EjorhIndy Johar15:00 - 15:20Scene 2: Boardroom DecisionSpeakersCamila EscobarJulie Baddeley15:20 - 15:25Malka wraps story - here’s where we are, here are some other places we could beSpeakersMalka Older15:25 - 15:45Scene 3: Global Non-State Actor SceneSpeakersJohan RockströmDr. Arunabha GhoshClaire Mellier15:45 - 16:00Closing InterviewSpeakersSophie HowePassy Amayo OgollaHabibaCharmian Love
